WHITLEY CHAPEL FOREST PROJECT

In an attempt to secure the future of Whitley Chapel School, falling school roll numbers puts its future at risk. The Shire community have raised the funds to have erected a log cabin to provide pre school nursery and outdoor learning facilities at the school. The idea is to attract interest from parents of pre school children from a wider area than the Shire itself, offering play for the infants and coffee for the mothers for a couple of hours or three mornings a week. The cabin also gives the school the chance to teach the children about nature and the environment outside of the classroom.

Hextoldesham Lodge has donated £500 to the project and this has been matched by £500 from RHHMBF. This has helped to pay for water, electricity and furniture. There has been keen interest from a wide area and they intend to start in the spring.
